A brief description of the snow and ice removal program, policy, or practice:

UNI has implemented a number of policies that have impacted the salt applications on campus. These include:
• Our salt applications have been targeted to only high traffic areas
• Application of beet juice extract
• Standardizing walk widths which allow for standardization of snow removal equipment. This makes the snow removal process more efficient, significantly reduces the amount of salt applied, and need for intensive motorized equipment use.
• A number of areas on campus have installed pervious pavers, which allow snowmelt infiltration and a decrease of ice build up in these areas.
