The University of Northern Iowa recognizes that in the course of daily living, all employees face problems and difficulties. In some cases, these problems can become overwhelming and affect your relationships, health, performance at work, and self-respect. For this reason, UNI has contracted with Allen Hospital in Waterloo to offer the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
EAP is a service that offers initial assessment/referral and short-term counseling for employees and their immediate, tax dependent family members and/or those family members covered on the employee's health insurance plan to address personal problems that may be affecting their relationship, health and work performance. Up to six sessions per problem can be held to assist you.
You may talk to an EAP counselor about:
* Relationship difficulties
* Alcohol or drug abuse
* Family or marital conflicts
* Financial problems
* Job stress
* Grief and loss issues
* Parenting Issues
* Gambling concerns
* Emotional upsets
* Retirement and aging problems
