A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:

To gather data about student commuting, two methods were used. For students who live on campus at UM6P, it is inferred that they walk to their classes since the dorms and facilities, including restaurants, are built inside the campus. For students who do not live on campus, a survey was conducted as part of the LEED O+M certification that includes all campus buildings in 2021. The survey required students to fill out a form about their main mode of transportation to and from campus. The survey was sent as an email to gather data on the transportation habits of all members of the UM6P community, not just students. The survey was conducted in 2022. It asked participants to fill out a form about their main mode of transportation to and from the UM6P campus and buildings.

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:

To gather data about employee commuting on campus, we calculated the number of motorcycles and bicycles in all parking lots available on campus. It was noted that there were no other places to park besides these parking lots. In order to obtain a more representative data, the calculation was done physically on a normal working day. This method assumes that employees who ride motorcycles and bicycles to work will park them in the designated parking lots, which are the only parking options available on campus. This method provides a useful snapshot of the use of motorcycles and bicycles among employees who do park on campus thus being representative of typical commuting patterns. We also used our data from our carbon footpint assesment that inform us on the number of employees who use train, car pooling and public transportion for communting.
