A brief description of the institution’s efforts to support alternative fuel and power technology in its motorized fleet:

The university maintains the largest fleet of electric vehicles in the state of North Carolina, dominated by 120 neighborhood electric vehicles but including the recent addition of Nissan Leaf plug-in electric vehicles. This has required development of charging locations across campus and the addition of level-2 charging stations at main campus and off-campus university buildings. The impetus for electrification of the fleet included a state Petroleum Displacement Program and regional air quality goals.
