A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:

The campus has both principles and policies that require the campus to meet sustainable development goals.

Master Plan Volume I
• Planning Principles

#5 Organize bicycle and transit networks - (pg 49) – Organize bicycle and transit networks around a major spine connecting regional transit stops, the campus core, housing, and parking areas in order to decrease reliance on automobiles and support a walkable campus.

President Harrison has stated:
"To add to this challenge, I have asked our planners and the entire campus community to embrace "sustainability"
as a guiding principal of the redevelopment of CSU Monterey Bay. As we deconstruct, and recycle abandoned structures which served our campus in its former military capacity and construct new facilities and campus spaces, we are intending to create a new and attractive campus with a sustainable future for ourselves, and new generations of students, faculty and staff. I strongly believe the
Campus Master Plan that guides our development should have a major impact on the CSUMB physical environment that will assist students to achieve success.
Further, our Master Plan should advance an environment that facilitates the work of faculty and staff in supporting student success and the engagement
of our surrounding communities. The proposed Campus Master Plan integrates our CSUMB Strategic Plan and our academic planning to ensure
the campus is serving our region, our state and our nation with shared commitments to research, service,
and higher education."
