Has the institution implemented technologies or strategies to reduce the environmental impacts of snow and ice removal?:
Yes

A brief description of the snow and ice removal program, policy, or practice:

On walks Na Cl is not being used, rather a liquid Magnesium Chloride which is much friendlier to the environment, is applied only when necessary and as needed as is the case of freezing rain.

On entrances sand is applied if hard packed or ice, and the ice and hard pack is removed manually by chipping ASAP .
The use of de-ice products is not used at entrances as it creates the need to constantly reapply as it melts and freezes making more black ice if not removed immediately upon slushing up.

If time permits and the snow is of the right consistency grounds shovels it onto plantings, particularly in planters, or hot areas, to help add moisture in the spring, and hopefully keep the soil frozen during melt and freeze cycles and false spring occurrences.
