RE: STUDENT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

It is worth noting that FIE has three semesters per year, Fall, Spring and Summer including quarter programs for each semester at the FIE London campus.

The above figures are calculated by looking at our Internship students only. In 2016 alone, FIE had 589 students participating in an academic credit bearing internship (Thirteen of those students participated in FIE's 'Service Internship' pathway). All FIE internship students work for approximately 24 hours per week for 7 weeks, which adds to approximately 168 hours per internship student.

FIE's 'Service internship' students are awarded with a nationally-recognized U.K. certificate from the organisation, vInspired, based on hours of service (v50 = 50 hours, v100 = 100 hours) and reflection components. vInspired is the U.K.’s leading youth volunteering charity recognizing and connecting students up to 25 years-old to opportunities in the local community. Students can proudly display this accomplishment on their résumé to further illustrate their skills and the Service Internship experience to future employers.

In the attached PDF, it is evident that approximately 10% of all the work placement site -- both 'Internship' and 'Service Internship' placements alike -- are those dedicated to sustainability in one way or another - be it in relation to the environment, social justice, human rights, etc.
