Bicycle racks are available for faculty, staff and students at FIE's two administrative buildings, Foundation House and Metrogate House.
Additionally, shower facilities are available for staff at Metrogate House; there is 24/4 access.
At both FIE's administrative buildings, two bicycle racks are located in the external basement area (four total). Residential (live-in) staff can make arrangements with our Facilities Team for storage of bikes over winter if they are not in use.
Transport for London, in partnership with Santander Bank, runs a bike rental scheme, renting bikes across London and starting at £2.00 per rental. This is available to all faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Many docking stations are located near to not only FIE's administrative buildings but also its residence halls and many of its internship sites. More information can be found via the Transport for London website: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/santander-cycles.
Not applicable as we do not have a campus.
Staff can arrange to work from home during days where industrial action (strikes) may impact the availability of public transport on trains or the Underground in order to reduce the use of taxis or cars.
FIE is supportive of alternative working practices in support of our sustainability values. Employees that rely on public transportation work from home during days these methods are restricted or unavailable (such as during industrial action). One colleague works from home two out of five days in order to lessen her commute, thus saving approximately 8 hours' commuting per week.
