Yes

A brief description of the facilities for bicycle commuters:

Bicycle racks are available for faculty, staff and students at FIE's two administrative buildings, Foundation House and Metrogate House.

Additionally, shower facilities are available for staff at Metrogate House; there is 24/4 access.


Does the institution provide short-term bicycle parking for all occupied buildings and makes long-term bicycle storage available for students who live on-site (if applicable)?:
Yes

A brief description of the bicycle parking and storage facilities:

At both FIE's administrative buildings, two bicycle racks are located in the external basement area (four total). Residential (live-in) staff can make arrangements with our Facilities Team for storage of bikes over winter if they are not in use.

Transport for London, in partnership with Santander Bank, runs a bike rental scheme, renting bikes across London and starting at £2.00 per rental. This is available to all faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Many docking stations are located near to not only FIE's administrative buildings but also its residence halls and many of its internship sites. Staff can arrange to work from home during days where industrial action (strikes) may impact the availability of public transport on trains or the Underground in order to reduce the use of taxis or cars.

FIE is supportive of alternative working practices in support of our sustainability values. Employees that rely on public transportation work from home during days these methods are restricted or unavailable (such as during industrial action). One colleague works from home two out of five days in order to lessen her commute, thus saving approximately 8 hours' commuting per week.
