A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:

'-In 2023, INRS organized training for research counselors in partnership with the UQ network, and a training ‘‘Breaking away from Unhealthy practices for Equity Enhancement’’ in partnership with an external consultant.
- INRS created an online training class on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), offered since January 2023 to the entire community. INRS is committed to ensuring that 100% of its managers take the training.
-In 2022, INRS organized a training ‘’Contribute to creating an inclusive environment for people with disabilities’’ in partnership with the UQ network, and a training ‘’raising awareness of indigenous realities and preparation for research in an indigenous context’’ (by Carole Lévesque, prof. at INRS).
-Since 2021, there is an annual mandatory training for all members of the INRS community on sexual violence (a new module is added each year to keep participants updated), which reaches almost the entire community. A percentage of 49% employees (excluding teachers), or 230 out of 471, watched one of the four VACS (sexual violence) video capsules during this year.
-In 2022-2023, a basic health and safety training, covering roles and responsibilities, was organized by the Human Resources Department: 66% of the staff and 33% of the student community completed this training in the spring of 2023. Among the professors, this percentage rises to 90%. Finally, for management and executive staff, it is 100%. A fourth training capsule on sexual violence was also shared with staff and the student community during this period.
-In February 2023, the Human Resources Department, in collaboration with the Graduate Studies and Student Success Service, organized a conference titled "Succeeding in Hybrid Work or Study Mode". The objective of this conference was to understand how to better adapt to the changes, establish best practices to maintain one's own and the team's effectiveness, and how to identify any issues. 12.2% of employees (excluding professors) participated in this conference.
-In April 2023, the Human Resources Department, in collaboration with the Graduate Studies and Student Success Service, organized an awareness week against harassment, discrimination, and incivility. 12% of employees (excluding professors) participated in at least one of the activities planned during the week.
- In June 2023, INRS participated in the Corporate Challenge, a three-month corporate health program that promotes healthy lifestyle habits in the workplace and culminates in a team-building event. 12.5% of employees took part in it.


A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :

In 2023 : The UQ network offered training "University and indigenous peoples: challenges and issues of recognition" relayed by the INRS EDI team.
In 2022, INRS offered the following training courses "Reflecting on territorial recognition in the university setting : context, overview and progress made by UQAT", "graphical accessibility", "EDI into the institutional context, and Dimension program". The same year, INRS also offered training courses from the UQ network such as training on racism, workplace accommodations and inclusive communication.

A brief description of how sustainability is included in staff performance reviews :

Sustainable development (SD) objectives were not included in the performance appraisal forms for the last 3 years. These objectives could only be added for staff members who were tasked with developing an SD action plan (Scientific Director, Deputy Scientific Director, Sustainable Development Advisor). However, an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) objective was included in the staff members' goals. This objective aimed to promote a fair, diverse, and inclusive living environment at INRS by participating in internal information and training sessions and by supporting the adherence to EDI principles. Managerial staff also had this objective, but they were additionally responsible for fostering the commitment and involvement of the individuals under their supervision and considering these principles in the hiring processes and the welcoming and integration of their resources.
