Does the institution use a centralized energy management system that allows it to track energy consumption and performance in multiple buildings in a central location?:
Yes

A brief description of the management system:

The JMU Building Automation System (BAS) controls and monitors HVAC and mechanical systems in 78 buildings throughout the campus. The various field controllers report back to a central location in the Automation Systems office. The BAS has the capability to trend energy usage over various time periods provided this information is available to the system.

Due to a wide range in building age, the level of automation in campus facilities varies on a building by building basis. New buildings may have a high level of individual room control and sub-meters on utilities. Older buildings may have automation on main mechanical systems but no room controls or utility meter integration.

The percentage of building space monitored with a centralized energy management system:
---

A description of what systems are shut down during unoccupied periods:

When occupancy schedules permit, the BAS typically shuts down air handling units and chilled water systems. Additionally, room temperatures may be reset during unoccupied periods.
