A brief description of how the institution ensures that its lowest-paid workers (including contractors, if applicable) receive sustainable compensation:

All employees are compensated per salary schedules negotiated between the Maricopa Community College District and the various Employee Groups (College Safety, Crafts, Faculty Association, Maintenance and Operations, Management Administration and Technology, and Professional Staff Association). The college processes all employment contracts and ensures that, whenever possible, employees are paid a sustainable wage. Only 14 employees were not paid a sustainable wage in 2010-11.
These Employee Groups provide additional benefits and provisions that apply only to members and that are in addition to district-wide benefits. For example, members of the Management Administration and Technology group are eligible to receive professional growth funds of up to $4,000 a year.
An additional benefit of serving as a Maricopa Community College employee is the opportunity to learn at virtually no cost. Presently, tuition waivers are extended to adjunct faculty and other adjunct positions such as contractors, librarians, and counselors; hourly; team-taught, non-residential fitness, full-time regular employees (their spouses and dependent children), skill center and specially funded employees. Eligible parties receive a waiver of the credit-hour cost of the course.
