A brief description of how the literacy assessment was developed and/or when it was adopted:

The sustainability literacy assessment was developed entirely by employees who are responsible for integrating sustainability practices at Université TÉLUQ (Sustainability team). The Sustainability team developed a survey to assess the level of sustainability literacy and the sustainability culture within the institution (employees and students).

A brief description of how a representative sample was reached (if applicable) and how the assessment(s) were administered :

The survey was emailed to the entire Université TÉLUQ community (employees [including professors] and students), with the option to respond or not, and it was available between March 7 and March 29, 2023. A total of 383 students and 217 employees completed the entire survey.

A brief summary of results from the literacy assessment(s):

The results of the assessment indicate that 42% of employees and 48% of students are familiar with the UN’s SDGs (they knew that having a circular economy is not an SDG);
Almost all students know that the environment is a component of sustainability (+ 88%);
More than half of respondents, 52% of employees and 57% of students, know the three pillars of sustainability (environment, society and economy);
About half of employees (52%) and students (49%) are familiar with the United Nations definition of sustainability;
The majority of employees (83%) and students (85%) know that limiting themselves to the minimum number of electronic devices needed is the action that has the greatest potential to reduce their impact on the environment, compared to the other actions identified (use);
The vast majority (93% of employees and 90% of students) are aware that one third of the food produced in the world is lost or thrown away.
