A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction:
The University Life Survey assesses the living/working/learning environment at Iowa State University. The survey is administered by the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost. Every two years, respondents share insights that will improve university policies and direct future institutional practices.
Insights gained from the University Life Survey allow measurement on progress toward goals in the 2010-2015 Strategic Plan. Respondents are asked specific questions about the recruitment of students, faculty and staff as well as university-wide efforts to support a positive learning and working environment.
Bi-annually, the President of Iowa State University reports survey results to the Board of Regents and uses participant feedback to assess needs and to implement future best practices. The overall goal of the University Life Survey is to improve the quality of university life for everyone at Iowa State University.
In addition, the Iowa State University Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) Department conducts an internal survey with its employees. The surveys include several questions about job satisfaction, and responses allow FP&M to evaluate how it is doing overall.
